USEFUL TRAVELING TIPS
|
Should I purchase travel insurance?
It is very important that you take out a comprehensive
Travel Insurance covering the period you are away from
home.
When purchasing travel insurance, you should check that
you are adequately covered for Medical costs and
Personal Accident, Loss or Damage to Property and
Baggage, Loss of traveler's cheques, money and credit
cards.
Do I require a Visa?
Before leaving home you must check that you have the
necessary visas for all the countries you will be
visiting. If not, you will have problems and may not be
able to join our tour. You could also incur cancellation
charges and additional expenses. It is your
responsibility to check that you have obtained all visas
required for the whole time you are away from home. If
you do need a visa for a particular country, please
check carefully whether your tour enters that country
more than once, as you would then require a multiple
entry visa.
Is there anything I can do to make my flights more
enjoyable?
You should be relaxed and rested before your departure.
Don't arrive at the airport already exhausted. Travel in
loose, comfortable clothes and shoes. Walk around at
transit stops and on the aircraft to keep your
circulation moving and to minimize swelling in your
feet. Eat sensibly, you don't have to eat every meal
given to you. Drink regularly; avoid alcohol, which will
dehydrate you. On arrival try and adjust to local time
and stay up until the evening to overcome your jet lag.
What size suitcase can I bring?
One piece of baggage not exceeding 20 kilograms per
person is allowed. The suitcase size should not exceed
736mm x 508mm x 254mm (29" x 20" x 10"). Excess baggage
charges must be paid locally by passengers. Only one
piece of hand luggage 550mm x 350mm x 250mm (22" x 14" x
10") is allowed.
What type of clothing should I pack?
Travel light, dress comfortably and pack easy care
items. Do not pack clothes that you will only wear once.
Cotton clothes are always a good idea for summer. Dress
on tour is generally informal, however a jacket and tie
or a dress with court shoes would be appropriate for
special evenings out. Leave ample room for new items in
your suitcases; you'll need it. It would also be a good
idea to bring a lightweight jacket or sweater for
traveling days.
What type of footwear should I take on tour?
Wherever you are touring, please take strong,
comfortable walking shoes. You will live in these shoes
on a daily basis while sightseeing, which may include
climbing steep hills or hiking over rough ground. Try to
'break-in' new shoes before you travel.
Should I bring Traveler's Cheques?
These are widely accepted by banks, exchange bureaux
and hotel cashiers, by some shops and restaurants. They
are one of the easiest and most secure forms of money.
If lost or stolen they can be reimbursed quite quickly.
Always keep a record of the Traveler's Cheques serial
numbers and proof of purchase separately from the
cheques themselves.
What currency should I bring?
We strongly recommend that you buy a small amount of
each currency required before arriving the destination.
This enables you to make your initial purchases until
you manage to get to a bank.
